What's on: Eco Events for September
Welcome to the 93rd edition of the The Northern Eco. Here’s a round-up of events coming up across North Yorkshire and the North East for those with a greener heart.

York Environment Weeks are back from Saturday 14th September – Saturday 12th October 2024 for a diverse programme of events celebrating and standing up for the environment. Organisers say there’s more than 90 events happening across the city: “We’re thrilled to see such a diverse range of events in this year’s festival, including both familiar faces and brand new event organisers. We believe there’s something in the programme for everyone, whether you want to explore York’s green spaces, get stuck in with hands-on conservation tasks, or learn about how we can make our homes and the city more sustainable.”
Urban Green Newcastle will be celebrating the city’s allotments and parks with the return of the Newcastle Allotment & Garden Festival! This year, the festival will be held in Exhibition Park, on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September.
Sustainable Wellbeing Forum is on Thursday, 19 September from 9am at Quorom Park, Newcastle.
People, Planet Pint Ilkley is being held on 19th Sept from 5pm at the Ticket Office Bar,11 Station Plaza, Station Rd.
20th September - Incredible Edible Northallerton will be holding their AGM at 6pm in the Potting Shed pub, Northallerton. For further information take a look at their Facebook page.
Cleaning up our Rivers, Lakes & Seas – The Answers on Sunday, 22
September from 12:30 - 4:30pm at Christchurch, Ilkley.
Friday 27th September, 9am-4pm: Restoring Nature Conference. Designed to help Town and Parish Councils fulfil their increasing obligations to support nature recovery, this conference is open to anyone with an interest in increasing local biodiversity. Kirby Misperton Village Hall.
27th September - Get along to Applegarth community garden in Northallerton for an opportunity to share, swap, give away and generally celebrate the autumn harvest. Starts at 3:30pm.
An exhibition exploring the life and work of Cumbrian farmers is opening at Abbot Hall on Saturday, September 28. A photographic series captured by Johannes Pretorius will examine regenerative farming practices, revealing the story of Kendal farmer James Robinson and his 300-acre organic farm, Strickley.
