What's on: Eco Events for December

Welcome to the 108th edition of The Northern Eco. Here’s a round-up of events coming up across North Yorkshire and the North East this month for those with a greener heart. It exists thanks to our brilliant paying subscribers.🙏

• From now until December 1 the Yorkshire Dales River Trust (YDRT) is holding an online auction. There’s some amazing lots available - holidays, celebrity meetings, artisan gifts AND £150 worth of our training! If you’ve three people in your life (maybe your work colleagues or family) who’d enjoy learning more about climate and carbon reduction, now’s your chance to bid for an unusual Christmas gift. Here’s the details. All proceeds will directly help the Rivers2U educational programme and volunteer programme, enabling a range of impactful activities, such as training local community members to collect water quality samples, equipping riverfly monitors, organising litter clean-ups, and managing invasive species through identification and removal.

• Thursday 5 December is World Soil Day - a UN designated day which focuses attention on the importance of healthy soil and to is a platform to advocate for the sustainable management of soil resources.

• Saturday 07 December Eco Craft Christmas from 11:00am to 3pm at Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens.
