Welcome to the 87th edition of the The Northern Eco. Here’s a round-up of events coming up across North Yorkshire and the North East for those with a greener heart.

  • This year is the 10th anniversary of Hen Harrier Day and it’ll be marked by an event at Carsington Water in Derbyshire on Saturday 10 August from 11am – 4.45pm.

  • Climate Action Stokesley and Villages is holding a Repair Cafe on Saturday 10 August from 10am – 12pm at Swainby Village Hall, 32 High St, Swainby, Northallerton.

  • August Conservation Club for young people aged 14-18 years on Saturday 10 August at Nosterfield Quarry.

  • Back to Nature Camp at Lime Tree Farm Earth and Sky CIC, Ripon from Sun 11 Aug at 6pm to Sun 18 Aug 18 at 2:00 pm.

  • Mon 12 August - Mini Wormery Workshop - Filey library, Station Avenue, Filey, YO14 9AE - 10:30am to 12:30pm

  • Natural Mindfulness Walk in the young woodlands and wildflower meadows of Sylvan Woodland Nature Reserve, Kirk Hammerton, 10am, Wednesday, 14 August. 

  • Pond Dipping at Nosterfield Nature Reserve, on Wednesday 14 August from 1-2pm.

  • Beguiling Bats walk on Friday 16 August from 6.30-9.30pm at Bank Woods, Summerbridge.
