Teams of citizen scientists tested the waters of the River Ure last month and found what they described as a “dramatic rise” in the level of E.coli concentration.

The rises were seen at Aldborough with a large peak on the tributary, the River Tutt and the level of E.coli concentration at Aysgarth Falls was found to be eight times higher than safe bathing…
